Narrowing Your Search Term
Choosing the right search terms is the key to finding the information you need.
Start with the obvious -- if you're looking for general information on Hawaii,
try
Hawaii.
But it's often advisable to use multiple search terms; if you're planning a
Hawaiian vacation, you'll do better with
vacation Hawaii than with either
vacation or
Hawaii by themselves. Also
vacation Hawaii golf may produce even
better results, due to narrowing the search criteria even further.
You might also ask yourself if your search terms are sufficiently specific. It's
better to search on
luxury hotels Maui than on
tropical island hotels. But
choose your search terms carefully; WeekendRUSH Search looks for the search terms you chose,
so
luxury hotels Maui will probably deliver better results than
great
places to spend the night in Maui.
How to limit search results to pages from a specific country or domain
You can restrict result sources by following your search terms with a domain restriction in the search box. To do
so, use the "site:" operator followed by your chosen domain. The "site:"
operator works for both web domains and top level domains.
For example:
music site:uk
lemur site:org
enrollment site:edu
ranking site:weekendrush.com
Capitalization
Our searches are
NOT case sensitive. All letters, regardless of how you type them, will be understood as lower case. For example, searches for
bill gates,
Bill Gates, and
bIlL gAtEs will all return the same results.
Prioritize Your Keywords
Keep in mind that the order in which the terms or keywords are typed will
affect the search results. To restrict a search further, just include more
keywords. For example, to plan a vacation to
Hawaii, simply type
vacation Hawaii.
Auto Spell Check
If we are able to determine that there are a large number of relevant search results with an alternative spelling of a word, you'll see "Did you mean:" at the top of your search results. To view the search results for this more common query, click on the word in question.
For example, searches for
Madnna would return a suggestion of
Madonna.
Quick Start
Save time by
setting WeekendRUSH Search as your browser's default homepage. Not sure what
a homepage is? Continue reading...
Your browser's default homepage is the page that your browser will display every
time you open it. Many users choose to have a search engine or a web portal as
their homepage. On the other hand, the homepage of a website is its main page
from which all the other pages of that site can be accessed.
What is a Keyword?
A word that is entered into the search box of a search engine. The search engine then looks for pages that include the word or phrase.
Image Search Results Filter
Each image search results page includes an filtering menu above the
results. You can select the type of coloration you want to see during each image
search. This will allow you only display color, black and white, or you can set
it to show all types of images.
Safe Search
In an effort to offer a family friendly environment, many of our search results
feature a safe search control. By default safe search is on, but you may also
choose to turn this feature off to display additional results that may not by
suitable for all ages.
Choose Words Carefully
Use specific words to describe exactly what you're looking for. More general terms give a larger number of results, so try to narrow your search.
For example:
Try "19th century chairs" instead of "old furniture"
Use "digital camera reviews" instead of "electronics"
Watch for words with more than one meaning. If you're looking for information on
modeling, make sure you specify "fashion" or "clay."
